A couple of weekends ago, I decided to do some pie exploring outside of Florida and into the quaint and cozy town of Woodstock, Georgia. I piled my best friends into the car and fifty car sing-alongs, a few delicious meals, and 7 hours later, we found ourselves at Pie Bar. I've been following Pie Bar on Instagram for a while and admired the values of the owners, Lauren and Cody Bolden. I spent many days scrolling through their media feed admiring how DELICIOUS all of their creations looked and knew we would find ourselves at Pie Bar sooner rather than later. Their pies are handmade with fresh and local ingredients. They strive for simplicity but excitement in their pies, and are passionate about baking pies that you'll want to share with your family and friends, over and over again. Here at Honey Pie Co. we hold a similar sentiment.
I ADORED the exterior aesthetic of Pie Bar. Simple and homey. How could you not go in and check it out?
When you enter the bakery, you are greeted by a cozy seating area. I loved this idea! It gave the shop a comfortable feeling of being at home, sharing pie with friends and family. As a whole, the bakery has a warm, hometown, rustic, farmhouse feel.
Pie Bar has an extension of their business called Pie Provisions, a pie crust kit and tools that make it easy for anyone to make great pie at home. You can see the kit here on their retail shelf, along with a few other cute pie gifts. We definitely bought a few things to take home in memory of our trip.
Now, on to the PIE. The most exciting part of all! After much thought, I decided to go with the "Sugar & Oats" pie, a brown sugar chess pie with an oat crust. After one bite, I can easily say it was one of the BEST pies I have ever tasted. The filling was perfectly sweetened and smooth, topped with sea salt flakes. I am huge fan of using sea salt flakes on pie toppings. I love the perfect balance of salty and sweet. I think the real winning point on this pie however, was the oat crust. It had the perfect amount of crunch and sweetness to it. It truly was a perfect pairing with the chess filling.
Now, my friends ate their pie slices faster than I could photograph them! One friend ordered the Salted Caramel Apple Pie, and the other two ordered the S'MORES Pie. They were all equally entranced with their choices. Below is a photo of the S'mores pie from Pie Bar's website.
We had a wonderful experience at Pie Bar. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the staff, kind and helpful. It was the perfect place to spend our Sunday afternoon. Our hearts and our bellies left extremely happy. If you ever find yourself in Woodstock, Georgia or even in Atlanta, TAKE THE TRIP TO PIE BAR. Your taste buds will thank you.
